Key data on early childhood education and care in Europe (2014 edition: Eurydice and Eurostat report)

This Eurydice Key Data on Early Childhood Education and Care report aims to provide insights into what constitutes high quality early childhood education and care through policy-driven and internationally comparable indicators. It is published jointly with Eurostat and combines statistical data and system level information to describe the structure, organisation and funding of early childhood education and care in Europe. This is the second report on the topic, following a 2009 report that focused on tackling social and cultural inequalities through ECEC.

Digital competence in practice: an analysis of frameworks

The report aims to identify, select and analyse current frameworks for the development of digital competence. Its objective is to understand how digital competence is currently understood and implemented in 15 cases, drawn from school curricula, implementation initiatives, certification schemes and academic papers. It develops a proposal for a common understanding of digital competence and identifies the sub-competences that compose it.

Arts for art's sake? The impact of arts education

Does arts education really have a positive impact on the three subsets of skills that we define as "skills of innovation": technical skills, skills in thinking and creativity and character (behavioural and social skills)? The report answers this question by updating and extending to behavioural and social skills the meta-analysis published in 2000 by the "Reviewing Education and the Arts project" (REAP).

Science education in Europe: national policies, practices and research

The comparative overview of policies and measures in place in European countries with respect to science education forms the main part of the report.
