As part of our eTwinning collaboration, we worked together to decide which section of the story our school will create.

To ensure a democratic and inclusive process, we organised a poll and voted as a team to choose the part we felt most inspired to develop. This allowed everyone to participate in the decision-making process and understand how our contribution fits into the bigger project.

Below is the structure we worked from and the common starting point for our collaborative book:
Title: “The Little Winter Light”

Beginning of the Story
On the first snowy day of winter, a tiny glowing light appears in the sky. No one knows where it came from, but it gently travels from country to country, searching for someone special.

Main Character
A small, magical light called ...... , who changes color depending on the emotions it feels around children.

Message to Convey
Kindness can travel across borders and connect hearts everywhere, no matter the language or country.

🧩 Structure: One Part for Each School

PART 1 – School 1: The Beginning (Setting + Problem)
Focus: How the story starts
Content:

  • It is the first snowy day of winter in your country.
  • A tiny magical light appears in the sky.
  • Children discover that the light is alive.
  • The light looks sad or confused: it has lost its warmth.
  • The children decide to help it.

Goal: Introduce Lumi and begin the adventure.

PART 2 – School 2: Lumi’s Secret
Focus: Developing the main character
Content:

  • Describe Lumi: its colour, size, movement.
  • Lumi changes colour depending on the children’s emotions.
  • Lumi “explains” through glowing or gestures that it has a mission:
→ “to collect kindness from all over Europe.”
  • The children teach Lumi a simple act of kindness.

Goal: Reveal Lumi’s purpose and powers.

PART 3 – School 3: The First Country Visit
Focus: Winter traditions + kindness
Content:

  • Lumi travels to the first partner country.
  • The children welcome Lumi with a winter tradition (food, song, dance, story…).
  • A touching moment happens (sharing, helping, comforting…).
  • Lumi becomes brighter and warmer.

Goal: Show that kindness makes Lumi grow.

PART 4 – School 4: An Unexpected Challenge
Focus: Conflict + cooperation
Content:

  • Lumi arrives during a difficult moment (a storm, an argument, confusion…).
  • Lumi dims or flickers.
  • The children work together to solve the problem peacefully.
  • They learn about empathy, teamwork, and inclusion.
  • Lumi shines stronger than before.

Goal: Cooperation solves problems.

PART 5 – School 5: A New Country, A New Lesson
Focus: Diversity + values
Content:

  • Lumi visits another partner country.
  • The children show a special winter or cultural tradition.
  • A generous gesture happens—an unexpected act of kindness.
  • Lumi absorbs this new type of kindness and glows with new colours.

Goal: Each culture brings its own kind of kindness.

PART 6 – School 6: The Coldest Place
Focus: Climax
Content:

  • Lumi reaches the coldest place of the journey.
  • Everything is frozen: trees, rivers, even the sound feels cold.
  • Lumi starts fading.
  • The children send warm messages, drawings, and kind words.
  • Emotional warmth melts the freezing cold and saves Lumi.

Goal: Kindness warms even the coldest places.

PART 7 – School 7: The Great Exchange
Focus: Connection between schools
Content:

  • Lumi travels to a school where children already know the story.
  • They organise an exchange: letters, songs, wishes, or symbolic winter gifts.
  • Lumi gathers “shared kindness,” stronger than each individual act.
  • The little light grows big and bright like a star.

Goal: Kindness becomes stronger when shared between communities.

PART 8 – School 8: The Ending (Message + Celebration)
Focus: Conclusion
Content:

  • Lumi gathers all the kindness collected across Europe.
  • Lumi transforms into a huge winter star shining over all partner schools.
  • Children feel connected, even from far away.
  • Final message:
“Kindness travels farther than snowflakes. It can warm every heart in the world.”

Goal: A heartwarming ending that represents the project.

We are looking forward to seeing each school’s contribution. After all parts are posted, we will bring them together and create our collaborative book as a symbol of unity, creativity, and shared European values.

The Little Winter Light – Part 1: The Beginning
Școala Gimnazială Alexandru Bohățiel - Grădinița cu P.N Livada

It is the first snowy day of winter. Snow covers the ground. Trees wear coats of white. Three children play outside. They build a snowman and laugh.

Suddenly, a tiny light appears in the sky. It glows softly and floats above them. The light is small and magical. Today, it is pale yellow. She looks sad. She has lost her warmth.

The children are amazed. “Look! A little star!” they say. They sit near the snowman and think. Together, they decide on a name. “We will call you Lumi,” they whisper.

The children smile and reach out with their hands. They speak kind words and laugh gently. Lumi feels the warmth of their hearts. She glows on the snowman, on the children, and on the snowy trees.

And Lumi glows a little brighter.

How We Created Lumi – Our Little Winter Light 🌟

At the beginning of our story project, we invited the children to help us create the magical character. We asked them three questions:

  1. What should the light be called?
  2. What does it do?
  3. How does it feel?

The children shared many wonderful ideas. We wrote all their suggestions on the board and used a Venn diagram to organize the options and find common choices. Then, the children marked their preferences with lines. Together, they decided on the final choices:

✨ The magical light’s name is Lumi.
✨ Lumi lights up and trembles softly.
✨ At the beginning, Lumi feels sad because she has lost her warmth.

Using the Venn diagram helped the children see which ideas were shared and made the decision process clear and fair. Every element of Lumi’s character was chosen collectively, making the story truly collaborative.

The Little Winter Light-PART 3 - School 3 : First Country Visit - ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO VASI di Corleone - Sicily- Italy

Lumi, floats down from the sky and lands in the beautiful country of Italy. It's very curious and wants to see everything!!! First, Lumi visits a small village. It sees families decorating their homes with colorful lights and making delicious food like  'pasta' and 'pizza'.Everyone smiles and helps each other. Lumi realizes that the people are very kind and happy. Next, Lumi goes to a town square where children play and sing. They share sweets and cookies with it!!.

Lumi feels warm inside. Everytime ,someone is kind , Lumi grows a little bigger and brighter. Then, Lumi watches a festival with music, dancing and parades. People share gifts and show a presepe ( a Christmas nativity scene). Lumi learns that kindness is like magic- it makes everyone feel happy and loved.

At the end of its visit, Lumi is much bigger and brighter than before. It learns that kindness is everywhere and when we share it, we all grow stronger and happier. Lumi smiles and floats into the sky ,ready to spread kindness wherever it goes next!

How did this story come to be written? Using the WH game .

Step 1- Introduce the WH words ,written on the board. WHERE? WHY?

Step 2- Ask the questions about the story: Who is in the story? Where does Lumi go? Why does Lumi go there? How does Lumi arrive?

Step 3- Simple final sentence , for example : Lumi flies with the wind and arrives in Italy. We ended up writing a short story , after this simple game.

Part 4 : An Unexpected challenge focus: conflict + cooperation. Lumi and the  friends

One day, while the children were playing in the yard, the sun was shining, and a gentle breeze rustled the leaves and lightly touched their faces. The children were full of joy – laughing, running around, some building sandcastles, others playing with a ball, and some just enjoying being with their friends.

Suddenly, dark clouds covered the sky, and a big storm began. The wind howled, leaves swirled in the air, and raindrops fell on the children. The children started arguing, because everyone wanted to do different things – some wanted to hide under a tree, others to run into the building. Confusion grew, and the joy of playing seemed to disappear.

Then, among the dark clouds and wet leaves, appeared Lumi – a small, gentle light. But the children noticed that she flickered faintly, as if she were tired. Lumi looked sad, as if saying: “I can’t light you properly…” “Why are you shining so dimly, Lumi?” asked a boy.
“I need help…” Lumi whispered softly. The children thought for a moment. They realized that Lumi could only shine brightly if everyone helped each other and worked together. “Maybe we could sit together and talk, to find a solution?” suggested one girl.
“Yes, we can listen to each other and find a way to help Lumi,” added another boy. The children began sharing their thoughts and feelings, and thinking about how to help Lumi shine brighter. One said they could hug her and smile, so Lumi would feel safe. Another suggested singing a friendly little song to make her light warm and bright. A third remembered that if everyone held hands and shared kind thoughts, Lumi’s light could shine as brightly as the sun. The children listened and supported each other, and together made sure Lumi felt happy.

Then, the magic happened! Lumi gradually began to shine brighter and stronger than ever before. Her light became warm and radiant, illuminating the whole kindergarten yard. The children felt safe, happy, and proud of their teamwork. They realized that only by working together and helping each other could they overcome any problem – even a storm, arguments, or confusion.

From that day on, the children knew: when you work together, care for each other, and help your friends, even the trickiest problems can be solved. And Lumi would always remind them of this magical teamwork.

Part. 6. The Coldest Place

Grădinița cu PP ”Arlechino” Dej - Ionescu Irodina, Gâta Diana

Soon Lumi reached the coldest place of the whole journey. It was a land where winter seemed to last forever. The sky was pale and quiet, and the snow stretched endlessly across the fields like a white blanket. The trees stood still, their branches covered in thick ice that sparkled like glass. The river moved very slowly under a heavy layer of frost, and sometimes it looked completely frozen. Even the air felt different there—silent, cold, and lonely.

When Lumi floated above this frozen land, the little light began to feel weaker. The cold was stronger than anywhere else it had been before. Its bright colors slowly faded into a faint, trembling glow.

At first, Lumi tried to shine, but the icy wind made it flicker. The warm gold turned pale, the soft pink disappeared, and the glowing blue became dim and tired. Little by little, Lumi’s light grew smaller and weaker, like a candle about to go out.

The children who had helped Lumi during its journey noticed something was wrong. Through their messages and stories, they learned that Lumi was struggling in the coldest place.

Immediately, the partner schools decided to help.

Children from different countries began sending warm messages filled with hope and encouragement. Some wrote letters telling Lumi how much kindness it had already spread across Europe. Others drew colorful pictures of sunny days, smiling friends, and warm homes.

One class wrote beautiful poems about friendship and warmth. Another group of children recorded winter songs full of joy and kindness. Some even shared stories about the good things people do for each other every day—helping a friend, sharing food, comforting someone who feels sad.

Soon, hundreds of messages began traveling toward the cold place. Letters, drawings, songs, and kind words carried the warmth of many hearts.

When the first messages reached Lumi, something wonderful happened.

The little light trembled softly—and a tiny spark of gold appeared again.

Then more messages arrived. Lumi slowly began to glow brighter. The kindness inside each word, drawing, and song filled the frozen air with warmth.

The icy silence started to melt. The wind became softer. The frozen trees seemed to shine a little differently, as if they were reflecting Lumi’s returning light.

The more kindness Lumi received, the stronger it became. The pale glow turned bright again, and new colors appeared—gold, pink, blue, and even gentle green.

At last, Lumi shone brighter than ever before, lighting up the cold land like a small, warm star.

And in that frozen place, everyone learned an important lesson:

Even the coldest place in the world can become warm when kindness travels far enough.

Part 8 – The Ending (Message + Celebration) – Valencia, Spain

Lumi finally arrived to Valencia, a city by the sea where winter is mild but hearts are very warm. When Lumi reached the school, the children already knew her story. They had followed all her adventures across Europe and were very excited to welcome her.
The children prepared a special celebration: they hung colorful lanterns, drew stars, and wrote wishes of kindness on small cards. They also sang a traditional Valencian song and offered Lumi a sweet orange, a symbol of light and energy.
After that, they organized a big exchange: they shared letters, drawings, wishes, and small gifts that represented winter in Valencia. Every gesture was full of affection and joy.
Lumi began to shine with a strength never seen before. Her light gathered all the kindness collected across Europe, from the cold of the north to the Mediterranean sun. Little by little, Lumi grew and grew until she transformed into a great shining star that lit up the sky above all the project’s schools.
When they looked up, the children felt that even though they were far from one another, they were connected by the same light, the same friendship, and the same kindness.
And then Lumi’s final message appeared, written in the sky with a golden glow:
“Kindness travels farther than snowflakes. It can warm every heart in the world.”

PART 5 – A New Country, A New Lesson
Vilnius Abraomas Kulvietis Classical Gymnasium

Lumi travels to Lithuania on a cold winter day. Snow covers trees and small houses. The sky is quiet and white. Lumi moves slowly and looks around. It feels calm, but also curious.

Lumi arrives at a gymnasium. The children see the small glowing light in the sky. They smile and run outside. They are excited to meet Lumi.

The children want to show something special about their school. They learn Latin and ancient culture. They say simple Latin words together: “Salve, Lumi!” They tell a short story about ancient times. Lumi listens and shines softly.

Then the children sing a gentle winter song. They laugh and build a snowman together. Soon, they sit and share warm tea and food.

Later, one child sees a new student standing alone. The child looks shy and cold. Then the children invite the new student to join them. They share scarves and kind words. The new student smiles.

Lumi feels warm and happy. New colours appear - yellow, pink, and blue. Lumi glows brighter and warmer :)

PART 7 – The Great Exchange

Istituto Comprensivo Perugia 3 - Italy

After the coldest place, Lumi travels again.
She flies over mountains and cities.
Then she arrives in Perugia, a small and beautiful city in Italy.

Lumi goes to Istituto Comprensivo Perugia 3. The children already know her story.
They are excited and happy to see her.

The children prepare a special exchange. They write simple letters with kind words.
They draw stars, hearts, and snow. They also learn a short winter song.

The children send their letters to other schools in Europe. Then they receive new messages.
Children from different countries write:
“Be kind”, “Help others”, “Share your smile”.

Lumi watches and listens. She feels warm and full of joy.
Her light becomes bigger and more colourful.

One child gives Lumi a special gift: a small handmade star. It is simple, but full of love.
This is a beautiful act of kindness.

Lumi collects all the shared kindness.
This kindness is stronger because it comes from many children together.

Now Lumi shines like a bright star in the sky. She feels strong, happy, and full of love.

And Lumi glows a little brighter.
