On Thursday, November 20, a unique culinary workshop took place at our school, organized by the school catering provider – Gastro Team – as part of the “From Farm to Table” project. The participants were students from the bilingual seventh grade, who are involved in the international Global Scholars program run by Global Cities, Inc. (Bloomberg Philanthropies). The program focuses, among other topics, on reducing food waste and the idea of zero waste, making the workshop a perfect opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge and skills.

The aim of the “From Farm to Table” project is to show children the journey food takes – from the farm all the way to the school plate. Students had the chance to see where products come from, how they are grown, and why it is worth choosing fresh, natural food. The classes revealed the behind-the-scenes process of preparing everyday meals, emphasizing conscious, healthy, and responsible eating habits.

The workshops were full of flavors, colors, and joy. They combined cooking with environmental education, teaching students how to avoid waste, care for the environment, and develop healthy habits. Initiatives like this align with our school’s efforts to promote pro-environmental attitudes and a healthy lifestyle through projects such as “Healthy Student – Healthy Planet,” “I Know What I Eat – A Sustainable School Meal,” and “The School Does Not Waste.”

The event was also attended by Ms. Anna Myślińska – Deputy Mayor of the Białołęka District, who observed the students’ work with interest, tasted the prepared dishes, and spoke with participants about their experiences.

The event also gained a unique international character thanks to guests from Turkey, Slovenia, and Bulgaria – teachers and researchers participating in a training course carried out under the Erasmus+ KA220 SCH project “From Waste to The Art – Inclusion Through Art.” Their presence highlighted the importance of intercultural cooperation and education based on pro-environmental activities.

After the workshop, the Deputy Mayor met with the international project group to learn more about the goals and activities undertaken as part of the Erasmus+ program implemented by the school. The “From Waste to The Art – Inclusion Through Art” project promotes the idea of reusing materials, creative recycling, and student integration through artistic activities. It shows that even seemingly useless items can be transformed into something beautiful – all it takes is a bit of creativity. Additionally, the project promotes the concept of inclusive education.

At the end, the project coordinator, Emrah Koçak, thanked Deputy Mayor Anna Myślińska for her support and appreciation of initiatives related to inclusive education and environmental care.

EU-funded projects, including the Erasmus+ KA220 SCH “From Waste to The Art – Inclusion Through Art” implemented at our school, are of great importance to the entire school community. Thanks to them, students have the opportunity to learn through experience, develop social and language skills, meet peers from other countries, and learn responsibility for the environment. It is an investment in their future, creativity, and openness to the world.
