First online meeting | 6th November 2024

The first online meeting for the teachers participating in our eTwinning project was a productive start to clarify our project's plan, tasks and individual responsibilities. Attended by all key stakeholders, this meeting served as a space to ensure alignment on our shared goals, discuss the project phases, and address any immediate questions or concerns.

We began by reviewing the main objectives and the project timeline, ensuring all participants were aware of the milestones and deadlines. Each teacher introduced themselves, shared their role, and highlighted their experience with similar projects, fostering a sense of collaboration and mutual support. Together, we mapped out the tasks that needed to be tackled in the first stages, from content creation and resource sharing to the technical aspects of online platforms and student engagement strategies.

Responsibilities were distributed based on each teacher’s strengths and expertise. For instance, some educators volunteered to lead the project's dissemination using social media, while others focused on coordinating student interactions or handling technical logistics. This distribution helped clarify who would manage each part of the project, making everyone feel comfortable and confident about their contributions. Additionally, we set up a calendar for regular check-ins to monitor progress, troubleshoot potential challenges, and provide each other with feedback (using the Whatsapp Group).

This initial meeting set a collaborative tone for the project, giving everyone clear direction and purpose. With each teacher knowing their role and responsibilities, we’re excited to move forward, engaging our students in a dynamic and meaningful eTwinning experience.

During this eTwinning project, the teachers primarily communicated via WhatsApp. This choice was made due to several practical reasons that facilitated effective and timely collaboration.

Firstly, WhatsApp is a widely used and accessible platform that allows instant messaging, voice notes, and quick sharing of documents and links, which made it easier for teachers from different countries and schedules to stay connected in real time. Unlike email, which can sometimes lead to delayed responses, WhatsApp enabled more immediate interaction and quicker decision-making.

Secondly, the informal and user-friendly nature of WhatsApp helped build a more relaxed and approachable communication environment, fostering closer teamwork and better rapport among the teachers. This was especially important in a multicultural and multilingual context, where ease of communication can significantly impact collaboration.

Lastly, the mobile accessibility of WhatsApp meant that teachers could participate in discussions and respond promptly even when away from their computers, ensuring continuous progress and coordination throughout the project duration.

Overall, the use of WhatsApp as the main communication tool contributed to the smooth running of the eTwinning project by enhancing responsiveness, flexibility, and team cohesion.
