Uncovering the secrets of our cultural heritage

Starting from Marcus Carvey's quote: "A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots," students will dig in their past, trace back their lineage to draw their family trees and recognize the importance of knowing one's descendants only to lead them to focus on some of the most important archeological sites in their local areas, mainly ancient city/cities. They will study the importance of these historic cities and try to see how that past shaped part of our identities and how it can be felt in some of the cultural signs and traditions that we still have today, but are not aware of their origins. Students will also discuss in the forum the threats that our cultural heritage is undergoing. We will try to encourage them to take part in an archeological camp under the supervision of university professors so that they will appreciate more their culture and the importance of preserving it.
