Balcești Secondary School is located in one of the oldest settlements of Gorj County.

The school is open to all citizens of the commune, offering equal opportunities for personal and professional development, fostering tomorrow's generation of the community. The institution is open to learning, respect for the values of a democratic society, but also a continuation of traditions. Balcești Secondary School has as its main objective to make the work of all managerial structures more efficient. The school's key values are openness to new interpersonal relationships, European practices and partnerships. 

The Secondary School Balcești is composed of the center unit and two structures, has pre-school, primary and secondary education.
