Stargazers: Through the eyes of the heart

Two texts—How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers and The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry—will be introduced during whole-class sessions. Classroom reading will be combined with flipped classroom practices, where selected chapters will be read by students at home. Each book will be linked to activities that encourage collective action within the school and its immediate community. Children’s literature is a powerful tool for enhancing emotional intelligence and supporting children’s psychological development. Books such as The Little Prince and How to Catch a Star promote values like friendship, perseverance and generosity, serving as a starting point for introspection and social awareness. Emotional intelligence includes skills such as self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation, which can be nurtured through narrative texts. Literature can act as a medium for cultivating empathy and self-understanding.
