1. Learning Objectives

  1. C1.LEX: To produce brief and simple written texts (paper feathers) in English to introduce oneself and describe the immediate environment, using basic linguistic structures and formulas of courtesy.

  2. C2.CON: To identify and value the cultural and geographical diversity of Europe through the swallow's journey, recognizing elements of natural and cultural heritage.

  3. C3.DIG: To use collaborative digital tools (StoryJumper, video editors) in a safe and guided manner to create international creative content.

  4. C4.LEX: To develop oral and written comprehension strategies to interpret messages received from European peers, fostering intercultural empathy.

  5. C5.VAL: To participate actively in a social and artistic entrepreneurship project, assuming responsibilities within cooperative work groups.

2. Key Competences

  • CP (Plurilingual Competence): Use of English as a vehicular language and respect for the mother tongues of the partner countries.

  • CD (Digital Competence): Content creation and communication within the eTwinning TwinSpace.

  • CPSAA (Personal, Social, and Learning to Learn): Ability to collaborate, manage emotions in international exchanges, and reflect on the learning process.

  • CC (Citizenship Competence): Understanding the concept of European citizenship, diversity, and shared democratic values.

  • CECE (Cultural Awareness and Expression): Artistic creation of the photocall and the collaborative digital storybook.

3. Methodology

  • Project-Based Learning (PBL): The final products (Photocall and Storybook) drive the entire instructional sequence.

  • Transmedia Storytelling: The narrative of the migratory swallow connects the physical world (paper feathers) with the digital world (StoryJumper).

  • Jigsaw Cooperative Learning: Each school provides an essential "piece" of the story. Without one country’s contribution, the swallow’s journey is incomplete.

  • Maker Culture: Students physically design and build the wing structure, blending craftsmanship with global communication.

4. Assessment Criteria

  1. Describes basic personal and local information in English with sufficient grammatical accuracy.

  2. Shows respect and curiosity for the cultural manifestations of European partner countries.

  3. Collaborates effectively in the creation of the digital story, providing original ideas and content.

  4. Uses digital tools autonomously to exchange information on the eTwinning platform.

  5. Identifies values of freedom, equality, and human dignity within the shared messages.

5. Learning Situation: "The Swallow's Journey"

  • Justification: Students often perceive "Europe" as an abstract concept. Through a migratory mascot (the swallow), we turn geography into an emotional, poetical and tangible experience.
  • Phases of the Sequence:
    1. The Nest (Activation): Students receive a "message" from a swallow asking for help to travel across Europe.
    2. Our Feather (Production): Each student designs a paper feather with their personal profile. Real postal exchange with partners.
    3. The Arrival (Reception): Feathers from across Europe arrive! Students assemble the "Spread Your Wings" Photocall in the school hall.
    4. The Journal (Creation): Students write their chapter of the digital story in StoryJumper, highlighting local landmarks and famous figures.
    5. Taking Flight (Dissemination): A video is recorded in front of the photocall, sending a message of European unity the European day (9th of May).
