CEIP Ortega y Gasset of Almendralejo and I.C. Porto Garibaldi Museum of Emotions
The Museum of Emotions is a collaborative project created by pupils from CEIP Ortega y Gasset and IC Porto Garibaldi as part of the #Skills for Life, Growing Together project.
Its aim is to showcase emotions through the environment, culture, art, folklore and monuments of Almendralejo and Porto Garibaldi by creating a virtual museum in which pupils from all our partner schools participate and in which inclusion plays a fundamental role.
💡 Introduction to the Museum
We have introduced the museum’s main characters, Mijina is a stork and Anita a flamingo, animals representative of the wildlife in our local areas, who act as guides for our museum, explaining its features and rules. The museum’s visitors are pupils from the various partner schools involved in the project; these were created for the logo and have been digitised.
We have discussed the different emotions, showing relevant videos, and have linked them to our environment, culture, history, monuments and traditional folklore.
🖼️ Paintings about emotions
The Spanish pupils have selected some illustrations by Yolanda Forner (illustrator); each year group, together with their transnational teams, have drawn a scene inspired by them. As some of the illustrations do not depict the emotions of joy and surprise, they have adapted two of her illustrations using artificial intelligence. Each pupil has drawn a scene representing the emotion assigned to them.
The Italian pupils, instead, have chosen some famous Italian paintings representing the different emotions.
These emotions are on display in the eTwinning corner. Thee emotions chosen are:
😢 Sadness;
😔 Melancholy;
😡 Anger;
😲 Surprise;
😁 Joy.
🎶 Traditional music
Performance of a traditional or modern piece of music or song from the region associated with each of the feelings or emotions previously selected.
🔗 Link creation
Pupils of 6th grade from CEIP Ortega y Gasset and of Class 1^C from IC Porto Garibaldi have created links for songs about emotions to include in the collaborative Canva project.
🎨 Drawings by the pupils
The pupils in each transnational group have drawn an emotion; they were first shown the artist’s illustration or an AI-generated version based on one of her illustrations, and they have written the name of the emotion.
🤝🏻 Collaborative Canva
We created a collaborative Canva showing the Museum. The history of our museum will be told through the work produced by the students: drawings, music, monuments, etc. Every room will host an emotion and will be visited by anyone.
⌨️ Digitisation of characters
The characters in the story (drawings by children from all the schools taking part in the project) have been digitalised and given voices.
🎙️ Recording of dialogues
To tell the characters’ stories, the pupils were recorded in class.
🇬🇧 English vocabulary
We have been learning museum vocabulary in English to improve the plurilingual skills. 👇🏻

📌 Creating a mural for the Etwinning Corner
Together, we created the museum in the eTwinning Corner of our schools so that it can be visited by pupils from across the school.
🌍 Visit by eTwinning Partners within the Erasmus+ program
When Italian partners from IC Porto Garibaldi went to visit the Spanish partners in Almendralejo in April 2026, they took them on a tour of their museum and the monuments they had been studying (the Huerta Montero Tomb, Espronceda Park, the Carolina Coronado Theatre, the Town Hall: Monsalud Palace (Espronceda’s birthplace), La Piedad Park, the bullring and the chimneys of Almendralejo).
🚀 This is our final outcome... enjoy! 👇🏻
Twinboard Museum of emotions
Poster
We have created a poster for the Museum of Emotions using Canva for the presentation and the eTwinning corner at our schools.
Identify guide card
We have created ID cards for the museum guides; this is Mijina, a stork that lives in an old factory chimney in Almendralejo. Storks are emblematic of Extremadura, the region where the Ortega y Gasset Primary School is located.
Anita's Identify guide card
We have created ID cards for the museum guides with Canva. This is Anita, a flamingo that lives in the Valli di Comacchio, very close to IC Porto Garibaldi.
Yolanda Forner's Illustrations about emotions
The artist Yolanda Forner has given us permission to use her illustrations of emotions for our project; as some emotions were not represented, they have been created using AI based on some of the existing illustrations.
CEIP Ortega y Gasset Museum of emotions Workshop of Lettering 4th *Lettering workshop for 4th grade
Our pupils of 4th grade took part in a lettering workshop on the Romantic era, organised by Almendralejo Town Council. During the workshop, they were introduced to lettering techniques based on the typefaces used in the Romantic era, with a special focus on our local poets, Carolina Coronado and José de Espronceda. We also discussed their poems, themes and monuments associated with them.
The sheets they created will be used to form a collaborative mural featuring their poems, which w
