**Orange Handprints with Words of Gratitude**
**Goal:** Children learn to express gratitude creatively.
The children created handprints on paper.
Together with the teacher, they added short words of gratitude: "Thank you for the smile, kindness, care, sun, life, food, warmth, and love."
We discussed how important it is to thank for beautiful things.
Georgia Emmanouil / 9th Kindergarten of Rethymno/Greece
We played the wonderful GRAZIATTOLO. We talked about gratitude and after each child said 'thank you' for something they have. They drew it and placed it in the gratitude box which they painted orange before. Great suggestions were heard and the process made the children very happy. Once the box is full we will have our gratitude celebration. But I think we will need to make a bigger box to hold our 'thanks" because there were too many!

Gratitude in 11o ΝΗΠΙΑΓΩΓΕΙΟ ΝΕΑΣ ΙΩΝΙΑΣ ΜΑΓΝΗΣΙΑΣ, GREECE
Our little learners embarked on a colorful journey to connect the vibrant orange color with the value of gratitude. We read the inspiring book *The Tailor of Words* by Antonis Papatheodoulou, which tells the story of a tailor who doesn't just sew clothes—he sews with words.
Inspired by his example, we decided to become tailors of words ourselves! Together, we crafted The Orange Sweater of Gratitude, weaving it with words that express thankfulness and kindness, like "thank you".

1. Game The GRAZIATTOLO: the THANK YOU jar
Objective: to encourage feelings of sharing and kindness
Materials: Markers and colored pencils, a basket with small orange pebbles, a container to put the pebbles in, which will become the Graziattolo, Label or paper tape (to be used as a label for the jar)
Activity: This is a useful activity to reflect on the importance of practicing gratitude! After having arranged the children in a small circle, each child will take an orange pebble from the container. This pebble will be held in the palm of the hand and connected to a reflection in turn on how much good happened during the day, identifying the best fact to be grateful for. By saying THANK YOU (for a gesture of affection received from the mother, from a friend, for a gift, etc.) the children are strengthened in their awareness of how important and positive the sense of gratitude is and it is shared with all their classmates. The game can also be played as a family, deciding together on a THANK YOU TIME, that is, a moment of the day in which to gather to reflect on what happened during the day and use the Graziattolo.
Variation: Each school decides whether to perform the THANK YOU TIME, once a day or once a week.
Variation: when the jar is full, a party is organized!2. Thank You-Mind THANK YOU
Objective: Teach the unconditional value of thanks
Materials: smile, sincere and welcoming looks
Activity: Tell the story of THANK YOU
Thank You-Mind THANK YOU is truly a magical word, every time we say it we give a gift to the recipient of our gratitude. How beautiful it is to accompany this word with a smile, with a welcoming look and with a small pause: we are aware of the value we give to the other as a fundamental presence that enriches our life.
It is a wonderful word, it leaves a scent above everything It is a ray of sunshine Above the looks, above the people THANK YOU is dedicating time and emotions to others, it is a universal word that creates unbreakable bonds. In light of the lyrics of the song, we help children throughout the day to focus on the ability to perceive the world around them, using the five senses. They will learn to be grateful for the magic of a sudden rainbow (sight), the taste of a favorite dish (taste), the sound of a beautiful word (hearing), the smell of freshly baked cookies (smell), the pleasant touch of a caress
Variation: in pairs, children imitate episodes where the word THANK YOU and a welcoming smile/look are used.3. Let's listen to a song, story about THANK YOU
Objective: recognize emotions
Materials: Music, story
Activity: Children listen to the story and tell their impressions, what they liked
Variation: They make a drawing about the story.https://youtu.be/N6-kmEkThrE?feature=shared
