A' Arsakeio Tositseio Lykeio Ekalis, Athens, Greece: historical perspectives, dialogue with the past
Students present their research into the evolution of architecture in their respective countries. While conducting research into repurposed structures in their respective areas students will have to apply critical thinking to identify successful examples in their communities which will help to form an understanding of the effects of societal change. They will use the knowledge acquired to plan and run workshops about cultural heritage (“physical artefacts and intangible attributes”) thus increasing self-empowerment and self-esteem. Taking part in innovation ‘camps’ will generate creative solutions, stimulate innovative thinking and brain-storming skills. A photo exhibition will showcase the outcomes.
Brainstorming for a logo contest will be used to focus students’ minds on project priorities, using their creative and cooperative skills. Researching the history of structures, living conditions etc. students will come to understand the importance of their own cultural and architectural heritage and subsequently that of their partner schools. They will learn to incorporate new technologies and communication methods into their research and presentation skills.
