Project Plan
Month 1: Launch & Foundations
Goal: Establish partnerships, set up TwinSpace, introduce students, and begin initial research.
• Safety & Introductions: Conduct eSafety and Netiquette training with students. Collect parental consent forms. Upload blurred forms to “2.2. Parental Consent Forms.”
• Student Introductions: Students create avatars and short introductions (text/audio/video) about themselves.
• School & City Presentations / Logo Contest: Students prepare and upload presentations (videos/slides) about their school and city to “3.2. Our Schools & Cities.” (Tools: Canva, Google Slides, Genially)
• Logo Design: Students design project logos and posters.
• Logo Selection & Pre-test: Create a poll for logo selection and share the link on TwinSpace. Administer the pre-test (Section 6.1) to students.
• Idiom Selection & Initial Research: Each student identifies 3-5 interesting idioms from their native language. As a class, select 10-15 idioms for the school’s contribution. (Tool: Google Docs for collaborative list)
• Idiom Research: Begin researching the literal and figurative meanings of these selected idioms. (Resources: Online dictionaries, native speakers)
Month 2: Content Creation & Collaboration
Goal: Research idioms, find equivalents, create visuals, and share findings.
Tasks:
• Idiom Analysis & Equivalents: For each selected idiom, find its English equivalent (semantic, not literal translation) and, if possible, equivalents in other partner languages. Provide a clear explanation of its meaning and cultural context. (Tool: Google Docs/Sheets for a collaborative table, to be uploaded to “4.2. Equivalents & Context”)
• Teacher Guidance: Guide students in using online dictionaries and cultural resources. Facilitate discussions on cultural nuances.
• Example Sentences & Thematic Grouping: Create 2-3 example sentences for each idiom, demonstrating its use in context. (Tool: Google Docs)
• Idiom Grouping: Group idioms by themes (e.g., animal idioms, color idioms, body part idioms) within their school’s contribution. (This will help organize the final dictionary and exhibition.)
• Visualizing Idioms: Create digital artwork or illustrations that represent both the literal and figurative meanings of 3-5 idioms. These visuals should be creative and engaging. (Tools: Canva, AutoDraw, Craiyon, Krita)
• Visual Upload: Teachers should encourage creativity and provide guidance on digital art tools. Upload student artwork to “4.3. Individual School Work.”
• Online Student Meeting & Sharing: Organize an online meeting (Zoom/Teams) with all partner schools. Prepare a simple agenda.
• Meeting Presentations: During the meeting, students present 1-2 of their favorite idioms, their meanings, and their visuals. They can also share a greeting in their native language. Encourage questions and discussions about cultural differences. (This replaces mixed-team interaction.)
Month 3: Finalization & Dissemination
Goal: Compile final products, evaluate the project, and disseminate results.
Tasks:
• Multilingual Idiom Dictionary Compilation: Teachers collect all idiom research, explanations, and visuals from partner schools (from “4.2. Equivalents & Context” and “4.3. Individual School Work”).
• Dictionary Creation: Students work on compiling the “Multilingual Idiom Dictionary” using a digital e-book creator. Ensure all contributions are included and properly attributed. (Tools: StoryJumper, BookCreator, Canva)
• Virtual Exhibition & Idiom Games: Students create a virtual exhibition space and upload all digital posters, artwork, and other visual outputs. (Tools: Artsteps, Emaze)
• Idiom Games Design: Students design 1-2 simple digital games (quizzes, matching games) based on the idioms learned. Upload links to “5.3. Idiom Games.” (Tools: Kahoot, Wordwall, LearningApps)
• Evaluation & Dissemination: Teachers administer the post-test (similar to the pre-test) to students. Conduct student, teacher, and parent evaluation surveys. Upload results to “6.1. Pre/Post-test & Surveys.”
• News Articles & Sharing: Teachers prepare news articles for the school website, local press, and social media. Share links to these dissemination activities on “6.2. Dissemination Activities.”
• Final Meeting: Teachers organize a final online meeting with partner teachers to review the project and discuss future collaborations.
