Folklore from "Las Hurdes"

This week in our school we are working about folklore, food and culture of our area. This week is the Extremadura week in School. Extremadura is the name of our region. In our region is very common celebrate festivals with typical food. We have to highlight the wonderful food from our region such as Spanish omelette, bread toast with olive oil, which is the best olive oil in the world and so on... We wish that the smell arrived there through the screen. We have to tell you that we enjoyed the festival with music, typical music from our area. Very ancient music which dates from high medieval age. From the period of Celtic tribes in Spain. As you can see we wear the typical costume in our region. We have to share this amazing time with you!

Jurdanu Carnival.

Today we held a demonstration of the Jurdanu carnival by an association, which taught us the origins of the carnival and the folklore of our area. Additionally, the Extremadura channel interviewed us live on our community radio, opening this morning's news. It was a unique experience. The students have been able to ask the experts and enjoy the typical costumes. We are eager to continue with our project, researching and teaching more about our area. We hope you like it.
