Once upon an island

Everyone knows the children of today are going to be the leaders of tomorrow. When we think of the leaders of today there was a time when they were children. There was a time when Barack Obama played outside with his siblings and when Bill Gates took family vacations just like us. We believe that leaders are not born; they are made. It is true that some children have more skills naturally, but every child, with the right guidance, mindset, tools and knowledge can step up and be a leader. And we want in this project to prepare our children to be good leaders and active citizens. To do that we'd like to intentionally develop the entrepreneurial and innovative talents of our children— to nurture their initiative, curiosity, imagination, creativity, and collaborative skills, as well as their analytical abilities — along with essential qualities of character such as persistence, empathy, and a strong moral foundation. Unfortunately all the partners noticed (observing and involving children in various activities) that our children are rather shy, unimaginative, passive and not decisive at all. They often don’t have any hobbies, interests, their free time activities are limited to the computer and the internet. Although, they have to make decisions when playing a game online, things are harder when they have to be taken face to face. The main idea of this project is, though, to teach the group of children (aged 9-14) all the values mentioned, especially: 1. To be creative (to have a vision), 2. To have a passion for doing things and determination, 3. To be a good decision makers, 4. To be a team builder, 5. To have character (strong one) and as a result prepare them to be good leaders.
