During their exchange program, students from the six European schools visited the Phæno Science Center in Wolfsburg. The centre offers a fascinating and interactive learning experience outside of the classroom, providing students with a realm of learning opportunities within the field of natural sciences. Students were able to follow their individual tasks while pursuing their individual interests.

The students visited the special exhibit “POWER2CHANGE: MISSION ENERGIEWENDE” and were guided by a worksheet.

This exhibition is a part of the new thematic focus on “Climate and Sustainability”. The exhibition presents innovative concepts and technologies for a secure, affordable, and climate-neutral energy supply. Visitors can form opinions, make decisions, and observe their effects by visiting exhibits and media stations. The exhibition explores topics such as how green electricity can be produced flexibly, what the future of power grids looks like, and whether trucks, ships, or aeroplanes will soon run on hydrogen or e-fuels. The exhibition is a part of a joint project and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

The phaeno also explores the principles of physics and engineering behind different modes of transportation, helping students understand the science behind both traditional and carbon-neutral mobility solutions. The exhibit provides insights into urban planning and the role of architecture in shaping cityscapes, making it an excellent resource for students studying cities and city planning.

While the phaeno Science Center might not directly deal with the concept of democracy, the collaborative and interactive nature of the exhibits can teach students about cooperation, communication, and the importance of diverse perspectives in problem-solving. All of which are key aspects of a democratic society. Visiting the phæno Science Center provides students with a hands-on, interactive way to explore and understand complex topics. They are able to make connections between what they learn in the classroom and real-world applications, making their learning experience more engaging and effective.
