Aims
Bring mindfulness into schools
Our main aim is to bring mindfulness into our schools. Incorporating mindfulness in the everyday classroom:
- improves academic performance because mindfulness enhances memory and concentration and reduces mind-wandering/daydreaming. Mindfulness also reduces test-anxiety, thus it calms the body and the mind, clearing the mind from negative thoughts and self-judgement.
- increases mental health and behaviour - students become aware of who they really are. Students learn how to handle their feelings, emotions and negative thougts.
- increases social skills, students possess healthier responses to difficult social situations or conflictual situations.
While implementing mindfulness, students will also improve:
communication skills and competence - all participants speak English
social skills - all participants contribute and collaborate with the others
digital skills - all participants use digital technology and a variety of online apps to do given tasks.
critical thinking skills - all participants are able to evaluate their life and thoughts
creativity - all participants participate in activities that require them to be creative and original
esafety - students learn about e-safety and netiquette, understand their importance and practise them.
