Task 1: "Colorful Fauna ald Flora" - the colors of South America
A Shared Map of the Continent.
Together, we will create an interactive map of South America, divided into sections that each school will develop. Children will learn about landscapes, rivers, mountains, and national parks, and we will combine the sections into a map of South America.
Division of tasks between schools:
School | Country | Region of South America | What they prepare |
| Poland A | 🇵🇱 | Amazon Rainforest | Trees, animals, river life |
| Poland B | 🇵🇱 | Andes Mountains | Peaks, llamas, condors |
| Turkey A | 🇹🇷 | Iguazú Falls | Waterfalls, rainbows, jungle |
| Turkey B | 🇹🇷 | Patagonia | Glaciers, mountains, penguins |
| Greece A | 🇬🇷 | Galápagos Islands | Volcanoes, turtles, marine life |
| Greece B | 🇬🇷 | National Parks of Brazil | Forests, monkeys, flowers |
- Each school creates a map section (e.g., A3 with a drawing and a short description in English).
- We add 3–5 keywords (e.g., “river,” “mountain,” “jungle,” “animal,” “protect”)
- We prepare a short video presentation: the children show their region and say 1-2 sentences in English.
- We place everything in the Genially presentation on the map of South America,

How we worked
Eumorfia Mpampoura / 17th Primary School of Kavala Greece
Our journey continues! Our next destination is South America. In this continent, we explored Ecuador, and more specifically the Galápagos Islands.
To learn more about this unique place, the students watched several videos and discovered the beauty of the islands, along with the many unusual animals that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
They also learned about the famous scientist Charles Darwin and his well-known Theory of Evolution, which was inspired by his observations in the Galápagos Islands.
In addition, we explored the volcanoes that exist on the islands and learned interesting facts about them.
Finally, I gave the students a worksheet with a map. The students colored Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands and labeled the Pacific Ocean. Along with this activity, they also answered a short quiz based on the information they had learned from the videos.

The map of the Galápagos Islands.
We decided to make our map out of modeling clay. I printed it on a large sheet of paper, and the students used different colors to create the islands’ natural environment. They particularly highlighted the volcanoes on the islands and wrote the title in large letters. Finally, we filmed a video in which the students describe a few facts about the islands in English.

My students and I learned about Iguazu Falls. They then presented their prepared presentations to their classmates in class.
