Pros of International Sports Events

Sports events  promote global unity and understanding. 

These events provide a stage where people from diverse backgrounds can come together, celebrate, and appreciate each other's cultures.

They foster mutual respect and interest among participating nations.

International sports events often lead to positive diplomatic interactions as leaders and representatives from various countries frequently attend these events, creating opportunities for dialogue and cooperation outside the usual political contexts. 

Economically, hosting international sports events can bring significant benefits to countries. They attract tourists and create jobs, providing a boost to the host nation's economy.

The infrastructural developments made in preparation for such events can have long-term benefits, improving facilities and services for the local population.

Cons of International Sports Events

They can sometimes lead to aggressive displays of nationalism. Instances of hooliganism, such as violent clashes between rival fans, are common in events like the World Cup, undermining the spirit of unity and sportsmanship.

International sports events can worsen existing political tensions. 

Economically, the costs of hosting these events can  often outweigh the financial benefits.
