Exchange project about nutrition and customs in ancient times and today between Gymnasium Bad Nenndorf and IISS "Concetto Marchesi" di Mascalucia

The project idea is to compare nutrition and customs in ancient times and today. Correlating to our respective territories we will consider Germanic peoples and Romans. This allows our students to use their own areas of expertise and share information with each other. In the ancient part we do literary work on Pliny and Petron texts about nutrition and table manners in ancient Rome and recipes from Apicius' cookbook as well as excerpts from Caesar's "De bello Gallico" describing nutrition, living conditions and religion of the Germanic tribes. Research on nutrition in ancient times and problems of modern nutrition is planned as well as a comparison between Roman and modern cuisine and gastronomic traditions. Excursions in the surrounding area are also planned (to archaeological sites and museums as well as modern food production).
