Starting out from Pieter Bruegel the Elder's painting 'Children's games' from 1560 children age 10 - 14 reflect on how and what they play at school and in their free time. They collect different games, try them out together, and visualize them in sketches, paintings or making three-dimensional pieces of art. By studying Bruegel's painting, they see how the artist visualized the same theme and which games were popular in his time. Also the students will interview their parents, grandparents or people of other generations in their neighbourhoold. In the case of migrant children or children with family members from a different cultural background games of other cultures can also be visualized and presented in class. Students will then collect ideas about games and ways of playing in the future and visualize these as well. Depending on the student's knowledge of English, short descriptions of the games can be added to the pieces of art created in class.
