Mobility to Rhodes (Greece)
Erasmus Experience in Greece – Learning from Nature
March 17 – Joint activity with students from both partner schools: IIS FEDERICO II and 4th GEL RODOU
One of the most interesting activities of our Erasmus experience in Rhodes took place at the Rhodes Butterfly Environment & Sustainability Training Center, located in the beautiful Valley of the Butterflies (Petaloudes).
Educational Project: “The Butterfly Valley Habitat”
During this full-day experience, students from both schools worked together, combining scientific observation, environmental education, and digital innovation.
Main activities included:
- Examination of plants and insects through direct observation in the biology laboratory
- Guided tour of the Natural History Museum
- Walking tour in the reserve with guided recording and photographing of flora and fauna
- Field observation using magnifying glasses, binoculars, and a telescope
- Listening to natural sounds using laboratory instruments
- Identification of aromatic and medicinal herbs in their natural environment
Innovation and digital learning:
- Application of augmented reality and artificial intelligence tools
- Viewing presentations and educational videos
- Use of workbooks and worksheets
- Active use of computers and mobile devices for data collection and analysis
This immersive experience allowed students to explore biodiversity in a hands-on way, understand the importance of ecosystem conservation, and reflect on the impact of human activities on fragile habitats.
Working together in an international context strengthened not only scientific skills, but also collaboration, communication, and environmental awareness—core values of our eTwinning project.
