EcoRoots

The EcoRoots project aims to strengthen the connection between students, families, and nature, raise environmental awareness, and foster sustainable lifestyle habits. Within the scope of the project, awareness activities on forest fires will be carried out, recycling initiatives will be organized, tree planting activities will be implemented, and various artistic and creative events will be held to encourage students to express their creativity in protecting nature. Parental involvement will be ensured through surveys, events, and workshops; students will actively participate in eco-friendly activities both within the school and on online platforms. The project also aims to develop students’ communication, problem-solving, and responsibility skills through collaborative group work, presentations, and the preparation of posters and brochures. The title “EcoRoots” expresses the main purpose and philosophy of the project through a powerful metaphor. The term “Eco” represents nature, ecological balance, and an environmentally friendly lifestyle, while “Roots” symbolizes both the roots of trees holding on to the soil and humanity’s ancient connection with nature. This name reflects our aim to transform students’ and families’ sensitivity to nature into a lasting awareness and way of life that goes beyond surface-level knowledge and reaches down to their very roots. Just as roots are the source of life for a tree, environmental awareness is the essential foundation for a sustainable world in the future. “EcoRoots” also points to intergenerational transmission. While children strengthen their bond with nature, they learn values and a sense of responsibility from their families; families, in turn, gain motivation to protect the environment through the perspective of their children. In this way, an awareness of protecting nature spreads from the roots to the branches, expanding its influence from the individual to society, and from society to the world. In this sense, “EcoRoots” is not only a project; it is an educational journey where love for nature, environmental responsibility, and the understanding of sustainable living will take root and be passed on to future generations.
