We are two schools taking part in this e-twinning program, “Crossing Borders”, the 5th Model Gymnasium of Chalkida, in Greece and the ICS “R. Viviani” di Napoli, from Italy, Naples. What we are going to try to do with our students is explore the issue of migration; the different types of migration, the reasons behind people’s movement from one country to another and finally, ask ourselves and examine whether there are borders on Earth nowadays. For, we are part of a world that has become so multicultural that borders seem to play less important role than in the past.
Our students (12-13 years old) will have the opportunity to meet students of their age from a different country, come into contact with them and practice their English. Initially, they will share and exchange cultural information and then with the help of a variety of technological tools they will work together on the issue of “migration” through time.
This is a unique opportunity for our students to apply new technologies, learn new skills and improve existing ones. A wide range of pedagogical approaches can be used throughout the program; collaborative, constructive and integrative approaches will be implemented.
