Catch 22 – inaccurate science in movies

Through a transnational partnership, our project aims at raising the profile of science teaching and learning in our school communities - students, teachers, parents, the general public. We also seek to make science accessible and enjoyable and, furthermore, to nurture in the children of today the scientists of tomorrow. We can try to do this by studying different movies – in English, with English subtitles - that present scientific inaccuracies to be spotted by students and explained/demonstrated as being impossible. There is a clash between two worlds here – the world of entertainment and of making lots of money, and the world of science with the idea that natural laws are constant across space and time as its philosophical foundation.
