This project is about the Byzantine period (6th-12th century) in southern Italy, and Sicily. The importance of how their culture , administrative organization,and religious tradition of the Greek rite with the evangelization by the Italo-Greek saints have influenced our territory. The Italo-Greek monasteries were a casket of the precious treasure of testimonies of the Hellenic classical culture in the codes they guarded and thus gave rise to Humanism and the Renaissance. The project aims to investigate the Greek Orthodox Heritage, of our country by reconstructing the roots and ties of the Orthodox tradition with other countries. Sharing, comparing and confronting with other countries will contribute to expand and strengthen our knowledge about the roots of the Orthodox culture.
