Coolinary Activity
Primary and Pre-Primary Makario Childrens Hospital
Both Primary and Pre-Primary teachers of Makario Childrens Hospital worked together in a cooking class generated Healthy oat bars using of course honey in them. Kids, teachers and parents enjoyed it a lot and tasted also the bars. Kids were reading the recipe developing reading skills and maths skills since they were responsible to measure and add the right amount of each product. Below we add some pictures from the whole process.

Dear friends and colleagues, we tried your recipe and the bars were really delicious and very healthy. We kept your recipe to remember you.
On the occasion of Honey, we talked about how healthy and nutritious it is and two mothers of our Kindergarten, in view of the Christmas celebration, wanted to make a wonderful sweet with honey. They are called melomakarona and we eat them at Christmas. We're giving you our own recipe. We hope you like it as much as we do! Good luck!

Some of the benefits of honey that the children researched—by asking questions and finding information on the internet—are presented in this project. Each child then presented their work to the rest of the group:
It boosts the immune system, helps heal wounds, acts as a beauty elixir, soothes sore throats, is rich in antioxidants and dietary fiber, provides energy, is considered a superfood, and has antibacterial properties. Honey is a treasure!
