ISTITUTO DI ISTRUZIONE SECONDARIA SUPERIORE ( LICEO) Domenico de Ruggieri (Massafra, Italy) is attended by about 800 students (aged 13-18) coming from Massafra and from the other little towns nearby. Their background is varied and our school uses an integration policy and thus offers the most disadvantaged pupils occasions to improve their competences (3% immigrants; 4% impaired, 20% in need of new motivating learning strategies). Students with special needs (physically impaired students, BES, DSA) attend our classes and devoted teachers support them and try to devise integration strategies.
About 80 teachers provide Scientific, Humanistic, Artistic, Pedagogical and Language courses. 70 %students study scientific subjects , the others attend the remaining courses.

The Artistic Department offers 4 courses in • architecture and environment• figurative arts• graphic-painting● design- industrial production
The Scientific department offers course in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and a special teaching in applied sciences and computer science.
The language Department focuses mainly on English, french and Spanish. Other landuages are taught in extra- curicular lessons.
The Pedagogical department offers our students a solid basis to approach the furure teaching profession.
The Humanistic deparment focuses on classical languages mainly as Greek and Latin.
