Who are we?
Our eTwinning School, Kärpäsen peruskoulu, is located in the southern part of Finland, in a city called Lahti, about 100 kilometers north from Helsinki, our capital. In our school we have over 600 pupils, 55 teachers and the amount of other staff is 15 people. Kärpäsen peruskoulu comprehensive school has both primary and secondary level classes. In our school we have 8 special needs classes and 2 one year classes for immigrant pupils to settle in Finnish school. In addition we have a pre-school group.
In our multicultural school we also have pupils who have Finnish as a second language. In our inclusive school the pupils with special needs are integrated either partly or fulltime in the mainstream education classes.
In Kärpäsen peruskoulu school we have been doing eTwinning projects since 2013. We have got several eTwinning quality labels, both national and European. Two times our project has won the first prize in the national eTwinning competition.
