The Freie Oberschule Fürstenwalde primarily teaches its students through internal differentiation (basic and advanced courses are taught within the same class). Career orientation at the Freie Oberschule Fürstenwalde begins from the start, integrated into interdisciplinary lessons, numerous school trips and excursions, our Career Choice Day, student internships, and visits to external learning locations and local training institutions.

The Freie Oberschule Fürstenwalde teaches its students in cross-educational-level classes.

The Basic Secondary School Certificate (BBR) is obtained by successfully completing the 9th grade. Successfully completing the 10th grade allows students to achieve three additional qualifications, depending on their grade point average and the number of B-courses chosen:

• Extended Basic Secondary School Certificate (eBBR)
• Intermediate Secondary School Certificate (FOR)
• Intermediate Secondary School Certificate with Qualification for Upper Secondary School (FOR-Q)
