Claire Quoirin

I have been teaching English in the same French middle school for 20 years – and I am still constantly challenged and inspired by new projects and opportunities.

Working in a disadvantaged area, I see education as a way of raising ceilings: building confidence and ambition, setting clear boundaries, nurturing curiosity and cultural awareness, and promoting gender equality and environmental responsibility. Theatre and access to culture play a particularly important part in my teaching.

I also teach students aged 12–14 in our American International Section, where bilingual, advanced and beginner learners from very diverse backgrounds learn together. What initially seems challenging often becomes a remarkable springboard for everyone.

After job-shadowing experiences in Estonia, Germany and Spain, which have all enriched my practice, I am now eager to develop small-group student mobilities across Europe – ideally through my “Theatre Exchange Project – Schools & Theatre Festivals in Europe / Festival d’Avignon”.

Curious, committed and always ready to experiment, I believe in opening doors – and raising ceilings.
