The conference was officially opened by Wilhem Vukovich with the European Commission.

Emmanuel Sigalas and David Crosier, Policy Analysts at the European Education and culture Executive Agency, delivered the first keynote speech. Addressing inequity in school and higher education at the education system level, the speakers explained that addressing equity in schools has to be addressed at a policy level. After going through data from several European countries on equity efforts, Sigalas and Crosier gave teachers concrete ideas on how they can think about addressing equity in their classroom.

After the first keynote came one of the highlights of the conference: the announcement of the ITE institution of the year. The winner of the eTwinning Institution of the Year Award was University of Florence. After receiving the award, teacher educators gave a presentation on their ITE projects and their integration into the curriculum.

The second day of the conference was kicked off by Assistant Professor of Innovation in Higher Education at Maastricht University, Alexandra Mihai. Her speech, Imagining post-pandemic learning experiences, reflected on how we can take the positive things we learned during the pandemic and integrate them in educational offers in the future. Mihai encouraged listeners to rethink and refine their learning design approach to create a rich and inclusive learning environment.

After five workshops slots ranging in topics from ITE for beginners to online learning in higher education, participants heard presentations from Early Career Researcher, Julia Garcia. Her presentation focused on ICT in the digital transformation of education in schools in southern Spain. After highlighting the objectives and research methodology, Garcia presented the results: that schools relied on ICT coordinators to lead the change, however, teachers were crucial to the implementation of digital strategy.

Day 3 of the conference was opened with a second slot of workshops which covered topics such as project-based learning and the power of inclusion. The final activity of the conference was a poster session where the runners-up for the Initial Teacher Education Award presented their schools’ work. ITE teachers from Austria, Croatia, Finland, Slovakia, Germany, Poland and France highlighted their projects’ curricular integration, implementation and future plans.
